No New Farm Bill!

The Pissed Off Farmer decided it's time to get into the prediction business.

Yes, that's right: The Pissed Off Farmer predicts that the chances of Congress passing a new Farm Bill in 2026 are 0%. That's right, zero.

Congress failed in 2023.

Congress failed in 2024.

]Congress failed in 2025.

I predict 100% failure in 2026.

Why does this keep happening?

One: They always have an excuse to fail, i.e., we ran out of time (years is a lot of time). Blame someone other than you. More important issues than food security.

Two: Trade groups don't hold politicians' feet to the fire; instead, they do photo ops, hand out participation plaques, donate money, etc.

Now, politicians are no different than farmers. Instead of harvesting commodities, they're harvesting PAC money. As long as there is a looming threat, more PAC money is raised.

Rather than rewarding success, it appears we just keep funding the same crisis over and over again.

Summary: If I'm wrong (which I doubt), I like my crow deep-fat fried.
